Do you imagine peas are little people?

.

Bowl of Pea’s

.

Here are my little men

Keen to seal their fate

Here are my little men

Near jumping off the plate

.

They woke from icy slumber

With dreams of something more

Pulses with an impulse

A pulse that pumped for more.

.

The pan it was a calling

Calling out their name

The steam puffed out its messages

It drove them near insane.

.

They jumped into the water

Like lemmings on the run

They cheered as currents took them

Took them every one.

.

Mother, sisters, cousins, friends

Excited by their imminent ends

Brothers, fathers, neighbours, friends

Rejoicing at their imminent ends.

.

Here are my little men

Keen to seal their fate

Here are my little men

Near jumping off the plate

.

They jostle with each other

Swollen with green pride

They brag to one another

Keen to get inside

.

Mothers kiss their daughters

Husbands kiss their wives

Kamikaze pulses

Dreaming of sharp knives.

.

The ritual knob of butter

Melts and slides between

My masochistic little men

All dressed in brightest green

.

Mother, sisters, cousins, friends

Excited by their imminent ends

Brothers, fathers, neighbours, friends

Rejoicing at their imminent ends.

.

Here are my little men

Keen to seal their fate

Here are my little men

Near jumping off the plate

.

They talk of peas before them

Peas bold and brave and strong

Who popped from pod a’ fighting

Who joined the battle throng.

.

They dream of making legends

Living on in word

They dream of being hero’s

Names that all have heard

.

Fork by fork they’re taken

Their hearts are all a flutter

And now the bowl stands empty

All but a smear of butter.

.

This poem is copywritten.

I don’t normally write like this, what do you think?

Wow wow so beautiful. I know you talk of peas, but what popped into my mind reading between the lines is of young soldiers heading off to war… lol do I make sense? Keep on writing!
